INTRODUCTION TO 1:1 PRIVATE PILATES
What is Private Pilates in Singapore with Gentle Pilates?
Gentle Pilates offers one-to-one and one-to-two private Pilates sessions in Singapore, taught by Angela, who trained as a physiotherapist in Australia before qualifying across the full Pilates repertoire on every apparatus. Sessions run 50 minutes and are built around one’s body rather than a class plan, covering rehabilitation right through to advanced work.
WHO PRIVATE PILATES IS BEST SUITED FOR
Pilates for Busy Professionals & Complete Beginners
For the executive who sits all day
Back-to-back meetings, long flights, and a body that's been carrying all of it.
You've looked after everything else, and lately your back and shoulders have started to let you know. You'd like to deal with it before it settles in, and have one hour where you don't need to think, just follow along and come back to your body.
For the beginner who'd rather not start in a busy studio
Curious about Pilates, but a packed class never felt like the place to learn.
You'd like to understand why each movement is there, see yourself improve, and never feel a step behind. Somewhere calm, at your own pace.

YOUR FIRST SESSION
What to Expect at Your First Private Pilates Session
None of it is a surprise, and this is the order it goes in every time.
OVER TEN SESSIONS
What Tends to Change by Your Tenth Session
A client with no Pilates background at all usually understands more by session ten than someone who has only ever attended group classes.
-
Ease
Clients have arrived at 8 out of 10 pain and reached zero by session ten. It has happened, though no one can promise it before seeing you move.
-
Understanding
By session ten most people can name the muscles they are using and the movements available to them.
-
Confidence
Feeling more confident in how your body moves, both during your sessions and in everyday life.
HER APPROACH
Rehabilitation, Prevention and Personalisation
Angela's private sessions follow three ideas, shaped by her physiotherapy training.
Most clients move from the first to the second over time. The third shapes every hour along the way.
Rehabilitation
Working with the pain, injury or surgery that brought you in, as part of the whole body. About half of each session focuses on that area. The rest goes to everything that has been compensating around it, moving in every direction across the reformer, cadillac, chair, barrel and mat.
Prevention
Dedicated sessions to keep your mobility, strength and health at their best. A body that moves freely is less likely to slip back into pain or pick up a new injury, especially as the years go on. The hardest part is staying consistent, and that's what the regular hour is for.
Personalisation
Personalisation begins the moment you walk in: how you move, what you're protecting, what's quietly compensating. Then come questions about your history, your goals and your working day, and a movement or two, like a bridge or a roll-up. There's always a plan, and it's always shaped by how your body feels that day.
THE COMMON REASONS PEOPLE GET IN TOUCH
Pilates for Back Pain, Injury Recovery and Pregnancy
-
Lower back pain
The most common reason anyone books a first session, and the one Angela is most often referred for.
-
Neck, shoulder and knee pain
Usually postural in origin, and usually improved by working somewhere other than the place that hurts.
-
Post-operative recovery
A gentler pace, built around the surgical site rather than through it. Bring any advice from your surgeon or physiotherapist.
-
Pre and post-natal
Where a truly individual programme matters most.

FAQS
Questions Before Booking A Private Pilates Class
-
A single one-to-one session with Gentle Pilates is $250 for 50 minutes. Five sessions are $1,100, which works out at $220 each and are used within 45 days. Ten sessions are $2,000, or $200 each, used within 90 days. One-to-two sessions are arranged by enquiry.
-
Sessions are taught at private studio spaces in Singapore at Raffles, Orchard, and East Coast. The address is confirmed with you when your session is booked rather than published on the site. If location matters to your decision, mention it in your enquiry and Angela will tell you what is available.
-
Gentle Pilates regular sessions are one-to-one or upon request, one-to-two for those who prefer a private session with a partner or friend. Group classes are held during private events and retreats.
-
Yes. One-to-two sessions run the same way as a private session, with both people taught together and adjusted individually. They suit couples, friends, and a parent training with an adult child. Enquire for the rate.
-
It depends what you need. A group class is a good workout if your body is already moving well. If you are working around pain, an injury or a history of one, an hour where every exercise is chosen for your body is a different thing entirely, and it is the reason people stay for years rather than weeks.
-
Yes, and it is one of the most common worries people arrive with. Flexibility is not a requirement, it is usually one of the things you are here to work on. The first session starts with basic exercises so Angela can see how your body actually moves before anything is built on top of it.
-
Honestly, it depends on the cause, and nobody can promise you an outcome without seeing you move. What Angela can say is that clients have arrived at 8 out of 10 pain and been at zero by session ten. She works the problem and everything compensating for it, rather than treating the sore spot alone.
-
Usually, and it is often exactly why people come. Angela works with lower back, neck, shoulder and knee pain, disc injuries, post-operative recovery, scoliosis, hypermobility, pelvic floor dysfunction and pre and post-natal clients. Bring any advice your doctor, surgeon or physiotherapist has given you, and check with them first if you are in acute pain.
-
No. Many clients do arrive by referral from a practicing physiotherapist, but most simply book directly. If you are mid-treatment for something, tell Angela in your enquiry so she can work alongside whoever is treating you.
-
Some people feel a change in the first session. Most notice it properly somewhere between sessions five and ten, which is why the packages are shaped the way they are. By session ten most clients can name the muscles they are working and feel the difference in ordinary movement rather than only on the reformer.
Ready to Feel at Ease in Your Body Again?
It shows up in small, everyday moments. Rising from your desk without that first stiff step. Lifting your child without bracing for it. Noticing a muscle you'd forgotten you had. Most people feel the change long before they'd call themselves strong.
